The main fish being caught there is Pla Sawai, or Striped Catfish - these run to about 10kg are are caught mainly on bread.
There are around 15 Mekongs (Pla Bug) in there as well - these are in the 15-20kg range and again are mainly caught on bread.
As well as these two catfish there is quite a variety of other fish in the lake, the two that will be of most interest to visiting anglers are Snakehead (Pla Chorn) and Giant Snakehead (Pla Shadow). As the lake is only a moderate size these two types of fish are actually viewed as being a problem due to their habit of eating other fish, because of this if you catch one they are not returned to the lake. In fact if you catch a Pla Shadow you get a free bottle of whiskey!
Thankfully there are no Jalamet in this lake and no plans to add any - long may it stay this way.
There are basic but functional toilets on site and the restaurant serves good Thai food - everything is well priced including the fishing at 150 baht a day. I need to check on the price per kilo of the fish you can take out, i'll do that and post it up. Opening times are 9am (maybe...) to around 11pm although if there is a few in as with most places they'll keep going as long as you want.
I'll take a load of photo's next time i'm there - this one was of the owner Khun Richard with a nice little Walking Catfish (Pla Duek) caught on bottom fished chicken heart:-

0 downloadsThe tackle you hire is very basic but functional - as with all tackle on the fishing parks in Thailand it's always a good idea to remove about 2 meters of line nearest the hook as this, and the knots used in this area, are the most likely to give way if you a hook a big one.
Mamak fishing Park is a nice lake with a nice vibe and the fishing is good value for money. While it lacks any really big fish there is plenty to keep you entertained and the beer is very cold...
