Bungsamran (sometimes also called Bangsamran) is probably Thailand's most well known freshwater managed fishery.
Located in North-East Bangkok it's easy to get to and compared to allot of other Thai owned fisheries - and quite well put together.
It's jam packed with Mekong Catfish, Giant Siamese Carp and many other species of fish - because it's been around for over 25 years allot of the fish in the fish have reached record sizes.
There is also a very good tackle shop there called 7 Seas - I would say at this time it's probably the best tackle outlet in Thailand.
They have a very basic website here:-

We also list them in our database here:-

We're going back there to fish this Tuesday with the guys from Fishing Adventures Thailand, we'll post a full review after this trip.
There are also loads of YouTube videos out there for this fishing lake - we've trawled through most of them and here are some of the better ones. Allot of what you see in these clips applies to Mekong and Striped catfish fishing in general - we've used these techniques elsewhere with great results.
100kg my arse but interesting technique with the towel lift at the end of the video - the nets at Bungsamlan can't really handle the larger Mekongs and this is obvioulsy one of the ways to deal with them without getting into the lake:-
And finally a quick reminder that even though you may think that the 30kg catfish you caught from Bungsamlan makes you a real catfish master - there is always somebody better:-

Knackered.
The Fishing Adventures Thailand guys were relentless - it was fish after fish from the moment we arrived.
Soon we'll return to do things at a slightly more leisurely pace, we'll post a full report on doing Bungsamlan the DIY way shortly.
